Electrical Submersible Pump Packer

The WS Model WS-ESP Packer is designed for use in completions that require an electric submersible pump (ESP) located below the packer to assist in lifting formation fluids to the surface. This packer features a bypass or pass-through section that allows an electric cable to be routed through the packer, providing power to the ESP.
The WS-ESP is a single-mandrel, dual-bore hydraulic-set production packer. It comes equipped with NPT chemical injection ports and an NPT vent valve port. The packer is set by pressuring up the tubing string against a plugging device located below it, and it is locked into place by an internal mechanical slip. The bi-directional slips prevent under well pressures from both above and below. Release and retrieval are performed by applying a straight pull on the tubing string.

Hydraulic Set High Angle Production Packer

The WS Model WS-HP-3 is a hydraulic set packer that can be run in single or multiple zone installations. It is highly recommended for deviated wells where conditions are not suitable for mechanical or wireline set packers. No tubing movement is required or generated in order to set the packer. This allows the well to be kept positively controlled at all times because the tubing is landed and the wellhead installed before circulating or displacing well fluids prior to setting the packer. Two or more packers can be set either at once or in any desired sequence. Packer design features bi-directional, one piece slips located below a three element packing system consisting of dual durometer rubber elements. The slips are fully enclosed in a shear pinned slip housing which in turn is protected by a full diameter guide located below the slip housing. Two balanced pistons are utilized during the setting process. The lower piston moves down to set and anchor the slips while the upper piston moves upward to compress the packing. This action imparts the total setting force to both slips and packing thus assuring a positive anchor and pack-off. The pack-off is retained by a single ratchet ring that locks in and stores the setting force applied to both the slips and packing elements.
This packer incorporates two methods of release, straight pull or rotation. Both methods are contained in the same releasing nut which is located at the upper end of the packer. Straight pull release is accomplished by shearing retaining screws of a pre-determined quantity which frees the tubing. Rotation release is accomplished by approximately eight right hand turns of the tubing which also frees the packer. Straight pull then is applied to completely relax the packer for retrieval. An equalizing valve is also located in the releasing section. The positive acting valve is automatically opened during the releasing procedure to equalize pressures and allow circulation between the annulus and tubing. In addition, a large diameter fluid by-pass is located inside the packing mandrel which allows fluid passage for rapid retrieving while reducing element swabbing.

Hydraulic Set Large Bore Production Packer

The WS Model WS-HPL-4 Retrievable Packer is hydraulic set, large bore double grip Packer, used for Production, zone isolation, multiple string completions and for stimulation.
The Setting starts on application of pump pressure to the tubing. The “WS-HPL-4” sets and packs off due to the force applied by tubing pressures. The design of the setting mechanism ensures sustained pack-off force throughout the life of the Packer. Opposed Double Grip slips prevent movement of the Packer in either direction due to pressure differentials, while allowing landing of the tubing in tension, compression, or neutral.
The standard model “WS-HPL-4” Packer is equipped with Shear Screws for a straight pickup release. The Packer is suitable for maximum 5,000 psi differential pressure.
Features And Benefits
- Large Flow Path ID: 2.441” ID for 5 1/2” Size.
- No Tubing movement for packer setting allows well to be kept positively controlled at all the times.
- Two or more packers to be set together in any desired sequence.
- Bi-Directional slips to arrest upward & downward movement.
- High performance triple seal multidurometer element package.
- Straight pull release.
- No Premature setting of packer, blocked by an integral lock nut.
Hydraulic Set Retrievable Production Packer

The WS Model WS-HP-1 is an industry standard, hydrostatic set, Double-Grip and shear release single string retrievable packer. The packer is hydraulically activated by applying tubing pressure against underneath plugging device. The packer requires straight pull or rotation to release.
WS-HPL-1 is the large bore version of the WS-HP-1 packer. Features, advantages and operational procedures are the same as those for PGOT-HP-1 packer.
Features And Benefits
- No Tubing Manipulation Required. The setting mechanism of this packer is triggered with pump pressure. The packer can be set after the well is flanged up and the tubing is displaced.
- Hydraulic Set for Low Hydrostatic Head Wells. The.’PGOT-HP1″ Hydrostatic Packer can be set by tubing pressure alone at any depth. However hydrostatic pressure also helps in setting the packer
- Setting Mechanism. The design of the setting Mechanism ensures sustained pack-off force throughout the life of the packer. This tool does not depend on trapped hydraulic pressure, but mechanically locks initial setting forces into the Packing Elements. Any additional bottom hole pressure Or mechanical load due to tubing expansion is transmitted as additional pack-off force Reduction of bottom hole pressure or tubing contraction, however, does not diminish the initial setting force.
- Multiple Packing Element System.
- Hydraulic Hold-Down. The Pistons of the Hydraulic Hold-Down are protected against dulling while running in the hole by Restraining Pins installed inside the Piston Springs. After the tool is set, the Restraining Pins shear, allowing the Pistons to bite into the casing before pressure differential from below is sufficient to move the packer.
- No Mandrel Movement after Setting. AII downward movement of the Receptacle with respect of the tubing, and all upward movement at the tubing with respect to the Receptacle during setting are trapped in the Body Lock Ring. Once set, the packer will withstand slack off or up strain (within the limits of the shear value selected).
AII slack-off goes into the Packing Elements, whereas all up strain goes through the Shear Ring (or Shear Nut) to the SlipRing and Slips to the casing.
-
Optional Rotational Release. An optional right-hand rotational release with a safety shear value of 50,000 lbs.
Applications
This packer can be used in the following applications: production, injection, and zonal isolation; single-string selective completions or dual-string completions with multiple packers; deviated wells or other applications when rotation for installation or removal is not beneficial; when it is beneficial to displace and set packers after the well is flanged up; when testing the tubing string before packer setting or to independently set and test individual packers in multiple-packer completions is beneficial.
Isolation Packer

The WS Model WS-HP-2 Isolation Packer is a hydraulic set, single string tandem packer used in multiple zone wells. It is used as the upper packer in multiple zone applications.
